Fondateur du groupe Ultravox, véritable précurseur de la New Wave dans les années 1970, John Foxx est accompagné ici de Benge (alias Ben Edwards) pour le projet John Foxx and The Maths. Ensemble, ils donnent suite à leur première collaboration avec THE SHAPE OF THINGS qui malgré ses sonorités synthpop 80's (synthétiseurs analogiques, séquenceurs d'époque) ne s'enfonce pas dans la nostalgie .
