"These two masters of noise sculpture came together to jointly create some source materials, only to take the resultant component sounds away to their separate studios and fashion them into two new solo works. Z'ev's piece, Buzzin' Fly' is divided across five separate tracks, taking the source recordings and spinning them across over a half-hour of dynamic shifts ranging from hushed, barely manipulated environmental vibrations to shrill electronic tones, all very much a virtuoso exercise in industrial soundscaping. Francisco Lopez's 'Dormant Spores'meanwhile, is a single forty-minute work, that finds the Spanish sound artist giving a veritable masterclass in composition using abstract location recordings. The piece assumes the form of a lengthy collage, taking in low volume cicada-like environmental bustle, abrupt percussive interruptions and even the odd expanse of sheer silence.
