"A sublime second album on Thrill Jockey from Extra Golden -- a more cohesive blend Kenyan benga and reverent American groove rock! The globally stretched partnership of the group continues on in honor of the deceased co-founding guitarist/singer/composer Otieno Jagwasi for this one. Opiyo Bilongo steps in on guitar and vocals for the set, joining guitarists Ian Egelson and Alex Minoff, drummer/vocalist Onyango Wuod Omari and some guest musicians -- this time recording in the US. This time out the benga music takes a more profound lead role in the overall groove, and the soulful rock parts have fewer lead moments -- and a subtle, intertwined elemental influence overall.
