Ce disque contient les musiques de trois films américains pour lesquels le compositeur est Virgil Thomson. Les interprétations musicales sont confiées au New London Orchestra. Pour "Louisiana Story" recouvrant les plages 7 à 17, le film fut réalisé en 1948 par le réalisateur Robert Flaherty. Un jeune garçon Cajun vit parmi les animaux dans les bayoux de Louisiane. Quand arrive une équipe de forage qui travaille pour une compagnie pétrolière. Les deux autres films se partagent les plages 1 à 6 et 18 à 23.
