Rien n'est ce qu'il paraît dans le vieux manoir anglais de Bly. Une nouvelle gouvernante y entre en fonction et découvre que les enfants placés sous sa surveillance sont sous l'emprise des fantômes de la gouvernante précédente et de son amant libertin. À mesure que s'enchaînent des événements plus inquiétants les uns que les autres, les questions deviennent plus pressantes : quelles horreurs se sont produites ici avant son arrivée ? Les enfants sont-ils innocents ? Voit-on vraiment ce que l'on voit ?

Basé sur l'étrange histoire de fantômes de Henry James,  Le Tour d'Écrou  de Benjamin Britten est un thriller psychologique sous forme d'opéra de chambre. L'Orchestre de la Monnaie, sous la direction du chef d'orchestre britannique Ben Glassberg se sont emparés de ce chef d'oeuvre et en ont donné une version scénique qui, malgré la crise Covid, a reçu un accueil dithyrambique. C'est la version enregistrée en studio dans la foulée des représentations qui est présentée ici. Les chanteurs Julian Hubbard et Sally Matthews sont très convaincants et tous ensemble, ils poussent l'imagination du public à des niveaux de tension insoutenables... [Outhere-music]
