Le violoncelliste Paul Watkins et son frère, le pianiste Huw Watkins présentent le quatrième volume des Oeuvres anglaises pour violoncelle et piano. Leur exploration se tourne vers des pièces écrites au 20ème siècle sous l'inspiration de grands interprètes tels que Paul Tortelier, Mstislav Rostropovich et Jacqueline du Pré. La Partita de Kenneth Leighton débute par une élégie lyrique. L'ombre de Vaughan Williams et de Walton plane tout au long de cette page. La Sonate de Richard Rodney Bennett se termine par un thème varié tandis que la Deuxième sonate d'Alun Hoddinott se caractérise par la clarté de sa structure. Dans Constants, Elisabeth Lutyens fait revenir quatre intervalles mélodiques de manière obsessionnelle.
