Toutes les formes d'expression et de déclamation vocale et instrumentale caractéristiques du langage baroque sont déployées dans le Messie de Haendel, avec une merveilleuse diversité. Nous sommes devant une sublime méditation musicale qui dépasse la simple narration, pour accéder, loin du réalisme de Jésus, au mystère même de la Création et de la Rédemption à travers une triple réflexion sur le combat de la Lumière et des Ténèbres, sur la rédemption de l'Humanité, et enfin sur la relation entre Dieu et les Hommes.
