Deux des plus grands amoureux, connaisseurs et collectionneurs du jazz ont uni leur passion, leur savoir, et leurs archives pour concevoir cette singulière et remarquable anthologie. Singulière, car c'est la première fois qu'une édition discographique présente, via ses pièces les plus rares et ses plus grands chef d'oeuvres une véritable histoire chronologique du Jazz. Remarquable, car cette réalisation permet de revivre cette grande épopée, jour après jour, sans rien omettre de ses détours, de ses accidents ou de ses accélérations fulgurantes. L'amateur novice trouvera là matière à compléter ses connaissances en allant à l'essentiel sans négliger pour autant aucun des aspects, aucune des particularités voire des contradictions d'une musique qui demeure la plus importante aventure artistique du vingtième siècle. Le spécialiste chevronné pourra gloutonnement compléter ses connaissances et enrichir sa discothèque de beaucoup de chefs-d'oeuvre inaccessibles jusqu'alors. Le plus grand soin a entouré la restauration de documents parfois très anciens. On peut en l'occurrence parler de prouesse tant l'exercice était périlleux. Il faut bien sûr pardonner les lacunes techniques qui entourèrent la captation des tous premiers enregistrements, c'est hélas le prix à payer pour accéder à la connaissance et à la délectation.
